Try This Five-Minute Transition Activity

Here's a five-minute activity to reinforce the learnings from your last lesson and prepare the youth for learning in the present lesson. This activity is particularly useful when added to lessons which are spaced more than 24 hours apart.

  1. Post one to three questions or tasks reinforcing critical points or important concepts from the last lesson.
    Examples:

List five possible symptoms of a sexually transmitted infection (STI).
Tell the person next to you the steps to saying no to a friend.

  2. Have youth work on answers individually as soon as they enter the room.

  3. Process answers quickly by eliciting responses from a few students while other students check their answers.
    Example processing statements:

Let's have three people read their lists.
Anyone have an answer they are unsure of?
