Chlamydia: Starting a School-Based Chlamydia Screening Treatment Program

In 2013, 1,401,906 cases of chlamydia were reported to the CDC from 50 states and the District of Columbia, but an estimated 2.86 million infections occur annually.1 The majority of these cases occurred in adolescents and young adults.

This guide focuses on halting the spread of chlamydia among young people by providing a step-by-step process for schools to begin, implement, and maintain a school-based chlamydia screening and treatment program. Although this guide was originally designed for chlamydia diagnosis, the step-by-step process can also be used to set up gonorrhea and HIV testing programs in schools.
